Antonia Juhasz is a policy-analyst, author and activist living in San Francisco.

She is a Fellow at Oil Change International and Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies. She has taught at the New College of California in the Activism and Social Change Masters Program. She is a guest lecturer on U.S. Foreign Policy at the McMaster University Labour Studies Program in a unique educational program with the Canadian Automobile Workers Union.

Juhasz's new book, The Tyranny of Oil: the World's Most Powerful Industry, and What we Must do to Stop It, will be released by HarperCollins Publishers in September 2008.

Juhasz is author of The Bu$h Agenda: Invading the World, One Economy at a Time (HarperCollins, April, 2006). The Bu$h Agenda exposes the Bush administration's use of corporate globalization policy as a weapon of war. Juhasz uncovers the history and key role of U.S. corporations in the creation of the Bush agenda, focusing on Bechtel, Lockheed Martin, Chevron, and Halliburton. Presenting the Iraq War as the most brutal application of the Bush agenda, Juhasz reveals the "oil time-line" driving the war, and how the administration has fundamentally transformed Iraq's economy, locking in sweeping advantages to its corporate allies -- including increased access to Iraq's oil. The administration has expanded its target to the whole Middle East through the U.S.-Middle East Free Trade Area. Juhasz brings to sharp focus the dangerous fallacy that the United States can combat terrorism and spread democracy through its so-called "free trade" policies. It concludes with specific achievable alternatives for a more peaceful and sustainable course.

Juhasz is contributing author with John Perkins (author of Confessions of an Economic Hit Man) and others to A Game As Old As Empire: The Secret World of Economic Hit Men and the Web of Global Corruption (Berrett-Koehler, 2007). She is a co-author of Alternatives to Economic Globalization: a Better World is Possible, 2nd Edition (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2004).

She is author of "Does Globalization Help the Poor?" by the International Forum on Globalization. Juhasz received a 2004 Project Censored award for her article, "Ambitions of Empire: the Radical Reconstruction of Iraq's Economy," in LeftTurn magazine.

Juhasz was proud to provide testimony to the Citizens Hearing on the Legality of U.S. Actions in Iraq in support of Lt. Ehren Watada in Tacoma, Washington in January 2007 and to the New York Session of the World Tribunal on Iraq in May 2004 on the economic colonization of Iraq by the United States.

Until leaving to focus full-time on The Bu$h Agenda, Juhasz was the Project Director of the International Forum on Globalization - an alliance of 80 leading international scholars, economists, researchers, writers and activists representing over 60 organizations in 25 countries. The IFG was formed in 1994 to stimulate new thinking, joint activity, and public education to counter and provide real-life alternatives to corporate-led globalization. Naomi Klein has called it "The brain trust of the [anti-corporate globalization] movement." It has also been called "One of the most serious and respected groups of experts dedicated to analyzing and generating alternative proposals to the prevailing economic model promoted by international financial agencies," by La Jornada of Mexico.

Juhasz worked as a Legislative Assistant for Trade Policy and other issues in Washington, DC for two U.S. Members of Congress -- John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) and Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD).

Her work has been chronicled in two books: Insurrection: Citizen Challenges to Corporate Power, Kevin Danaher and Jason Mark, Routledge, October 2003; and Global Backlash: Citizens Initiatives for A Just World Economy, Robin Broad Ed., Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc. 2002.

In October 2004, Juhasz was awarded "The Sentinel" by the Nevada Alliance for Workers Rights, "For those who have engaged in a lifelong activism."

Juhasz is an expert on all aspects of international trade and finance policy with a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, a Bachelors Degree in Public Policy from Brown University, experience as a Legislative Assistant to two United States Members of Congress, and over ten years of work in the field. She is a passionate writer and speaker who conveys complex information in a manner that is both accessible and motivational to others.
